The vintage look popular in previous years has become increasingly pared back with a wide variety of interiors – from hotels and restaurants to clothing retailers – now sporting industrial interior design touches: distressed stamp-effect lettering and prints; metal lighting and furniture; exposed brickwork; and repurposed furniture such as butcher’s blocks and sewing machine bases transformed into tables. Meanwhile point of sale and other display items are typically demonstrating a hand crafted aesthetic introducing crates, basketry and other rustic textures. This look is rooted in both farmer’s markets and urban street food markets alike and was first adopted by the independents. Heavily influenced by the street food movement it is now an increasingly common sight amongst high street cafe and restaurant operators too.
Our compostable Street Food packaging and labelling range was custom designed to support these fast growing divisions of the takeaway and grab and go markets and introduces a distressed black and white world map print to plastic-free kraft hot food packaging.
As we approach 2016, the base colour pallet combines light pastel shades with neutral tones. These are sometimes combined with darker block colours or muted pastels shades - plus the occasional subtle metallic. Colour is also being used to highlight specific qualities or properties on pack such as vegetarian or gluten-free to help build purer brand identities. Following the introduction of the new labelling legislation, labelling especially is increasingly being designed to allow fine quality products to speak for themselves.
