Is Halal and Kosher Labelling Legislation Coming to the UK?
New Halal Sticker launched ahead of government consultation

We are increasingly being asked, ‘do halal products need to be labelled?’ There is no current legislation for UK-based caterers for the labelling of food and drink products with regard to religious practices. However, this may be about to change as the Government has announced it will soon be evaluating compulsory food label requirements around faith.

Environment Minister Mark Spencer said: “The Government has committed to consult on mandatory labelling reforms this year, we want to make it easier for consumers to purchase products aligned with their values. As part of this consultation, we will seek views on labelling products that conform with religious requirements such as halal and kosher.”

Read on to discover how we can help you prepare for any changes - protecting you, your customers and your business - with our halal stickers and labelling software.

Food Labelling Software - Legislation-Ready

One of the major advantages of LabelLogic Live, our clever web-based food labelling software, is that it’s always aligned with UK labelling laws and updates instantly whenever new legislation comes into play. As a food and drink operator, it can feel overwhelming trying to stay abreast of the ever evolving legalities of UK labelling laws, so LabelLogic Live offers much needed flexibility and peace of mind.

How Does It Work?

Currently, our easy-to-use app allows our users to add halal, kosher - along with other dietary details - visually and /or by text - at the touch of a button. However, when any new legislation comes into force, our labelling app updates instantly in line with the changes, saving users time and minimising labelling stress.

New Halal Roll Sticker

In addition to labelling products through LabelLogic Live, we have launched a circular Halal Roll Sticker specifically for schools and other food providers seeking to highlight food offerings adhering to Islamic law. These highlight halal products, whether on-pack or in a chiller or other display setting.

This semi-gloss sticker presents your customers with a fresh green-on-white design, stating ‘Halal’ in English and Arabic. Made in the UK, our latest 1,000 per roll dietary food labels have been developed to stand out on a wide range of food packaging while also complementing the food and drink providers existing branding. For the design, we opted for a subtle pastel green - green considered one of the cleanest and most spiritual colours in Islam. Our new halal food labels come in a handy dispenser box for clean and easy application. Perfect for busy catering teams!
