Food Labelling at Royal Lancaster Infirmary

Our clients, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary’s catering team, are part of a truly forward-thinking, innovative hospital Trust. After the tragic case of Natasha Ednan-Laperpouse, this healthcare catering team made changes before the new legislation, Natasha's Law, had even been proposed.

Natasha's Law has been introduced to better safeguard allergy sufferers. It means that food and drink businesses in England and Northern Ireland will be required to include ingredient labelling on their pre-packaged food and drink offering.

To manage this process, and design and print allergen and nutritional labels effectively, they turned to LabelLogic Live, our food labelling software. Jackie O’Brien, Hotel Services Manager Catering at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary said:

Jenkins Bakery Labelling

Award-winning Jenkins Bakery prides itself on delivering the freshest and best quality products. Jenkins has been working with Planglow since the 1980s, and uses our labelling app, LabelLogic Live, to add food information to its sandwich, filled roll and confectionery ranges. When new food labelling legislation - Natasha’s Law - was due to come into effect, Jenkins prepared to achieve compliance with the help of our labelling software. Elior: Consistent, Compliant Allergen Labelling Nationwide

At the start of 2019, leading contract caterer Elior began the roll out of our ground breaking food labelling software to more than 200 of its UK sites. We also developed an additional bespoke programme especially for the company that enables LabelLogic Live to pull data directly from Elior’s menu management software to deliver an instant, accurate, compliant solution for data end to end. The Feel Good Bakery

The Feel Good Bakery is aptly named. While selling a range of fresh made sandwiches from a number of key sites across South London, it’s ‘feel good’ philosophy is being felt much further afield. This is because, for every sandwich sold, The Feel Good Bakery donates a meal to a child living in extreme poverty. Nathan was responsible for sourcing packaging and, having looked at a few companies, was won over by Planglow’s range of plant-based products, as he explained:

Chriskitch: Compostable Packaging

Tucked amongst the leafy avenues around Muswell Hill you'll find the immensely popular deli-cafe Chriskitch. Owner and founder Chris(tian) Honor has chefed around the world including a tenure at Gordon Ramsey's former Aubergine restaurant in Chelsea. Honor's cooking style reflects his nomadic lifestyle showcasing a fine blend of world flavours, textures and detail. Whilst investigating potential suppliers back in 2013, Chris discovered Planglow, here's what he thinks of our products and services.

The French Tarte: Custom Design Packaging

Choosing items from a stock Planglow's range, TFT then opted to have products custom designed by Planglow as well as to further support the brand. So a label, napkin, bio cup, deli paper and bag utilising TFT logo and colours were developed.

The Red River Café , Heartlands

Heartlands is a World Heritage Gateway site in the former mining heart of Cornwall. Situated at Robinson’s shaft near Redruth, the site was an operational tin mine for nearly 400 years until its closure in 1998. Reopening as a free visitor attraction in 2012, the 19 acre site included state of the art exhibitions, climb on sculptures, diverse gardens, playscape, craft studios and the Red River Café. Housed in the former carpenter’s workshop, the 130-cover Red River Café also encompassed four meeting rooms and 170-seat hall that catered for locals and tourists alike. Former hospitality manager James Curnow explained why he chose to work with Planglow.

Kevin Collett had been with leading contract caterer Elior for five years when he moved to the then Elior run Café At-Bristol which was housed inside top science and discovery-based visitor attraction At-Bristol (now We the Curious). During this time, Kevin led the Café At-Bristol from strength to strength, securing multiple awards and accreditations for sustainability along the way.
