Inspired by a visit to New York and with 25 years of retail know-how behind him, owner Jeremy Jacobs wanted to bring a slice of the Big Apple to Bromley via his own deli business.

Glo Creative met with Jeremy to discuss his objectives and aspirations for his deli brand. They were asked to create a unique name and brand identity that would work across a range of mediums, from glassware and signage to food labelling.

It was important that the creative complemented the shop’s fittings to create a relaxing environment and modern atmosphere for customers. The brand had to be easily recognisable yet differentiate the business from fierce high street competition. It also needed to communicate the unique deli offering available and attract local residents and office workers alike.

Glo Creative's senior designer developed the contemporary branding and name Bloomingdelis; a witty nod to the famous New York retailer. The colour palette was carefully chosen to compliment the zesty green seating and dark wood interior. The branding and 'Taste of New York' strapline has already proven a hit with Bloomingdelis customers, with many offering positive feedback.

I found the Glo Creative service was very customer focused. They were quickly able to come back to me with something that captured what I wanted first time. The brand’s handwritten style really captured the vibrant, freshly-made philosophy of Bloomingdelis. It really ties everything together and we’ve had some really positive comments on the name, including our American customers!
